You join a union out of selflessness, not $elf-interest

When I was writing The Target, my research into unions reminded me of the importance the union movement has played in society, and needs to play in the future. I’ve heard people say, “what will I get out of being in the union - all the benefits are passed on”.

  1. If everyone had that attitude there would be no benefits

  2. You join the union to help your colleagues, not yourself.

If you’re looking for: a genius, a thought leader, a transformational change agent or societal visionary, then you’re on the wrong site. Be careful though, as Tarantino’s character in Reservoir Dogs Nice Guy Eddie observed - ‘just because they say it, now that don't necessarily make it fucking so.’
