The young must vote - they have more tomorrows
Over 90% of citizens 65+ vote in New Zealand general elections. Comparatively lower, only 75% of citizens under 34 vote. The difference in potential votes is huge, usually more than any of the minor parties receive and is more than enough to change an election.
We don’t need to make voting compulsory in Aotearoa to get young people to the polls, we just need people to take democracy seriously.
