It sounds obvious, because it is. I think of the status quo as the “almost” immoveable object. The effort needed to shift it is immense. Hoping it moves doesn’t work. One of my favourite sayings is - Hope is not a strategy.

Be careful though, as Tarantino’s character in Reservoir Dogs Nice Guy Eddie observed - ‘just because they say it, now that don't necessarily make it fucking so.’
